The Ford Ranger Raptor brings the Raptor formula to the midsize truck segment with impressive results. The 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 producing 405 horsepower gives it a significant power advantage over the Colorado ZR2 and Tacoma TRD Pro, and the Fox Live Valve suspension delivers remarkable high-speed off-road composure. The widebody design with functional hood vents looks properly aggressive, and the Recaro sport seats provide excellent support during spirited driving. The SYNC 4 infotainment system on a 12-inch screen is responsive and well-featured. Trail Control provides useful low-speed crawling capability for technical terrain. Where the Ranger Raptor trades off is in fuel economy and ride refinement on pavement -- the stiff suspension and aggressive tires create more road noise than the standard Ranger. The bed is also on the smaller side for a midsize truck.
