The Jaguar I-PACE was a trailblazer when it launched as one of the first luxury electric SUVs, and it still has qualities that newer competitors struggle to match -- namely its sporting chassis dynamics and distinctive exterior design. The dual-motor setup delivers punchy acceleration, and the low center of gravity provides handling that feels genuinely agile for an SUV. The interior design remains attractive with quality materials. However, the I-PACE has aged poorly in a rapidly evolving EV market. The 246-mile range is below average, charging speeds are slower than newer 800-volt architectures, and the infotainment system -- based on an older Jaguar platform -- feels sluggish and dated. Rear headroom is compromised by the sloping roofline, and cargo space is modest. At $74,000, it now competes with vehicles that offer significantly more range, faster charging, and more modern technology. Jaguar's uncertain future direction adds ownership risk. The I-PACE remains a capable and enjoyable vehicle, but its competitive position has weakened substantially since launch.
