The distinctive dashboard design with its elevated 12.3-inch display minimizes eye distraction while driving. Build quality and reliability expectations benefit from the Toyota badge. However, the bZ4X does not excite -- acceleration is leisurely, the steering is numb, and the chassis tuning prioritizes comfort to the point of dullness. The infotainment software can be laggy, and the range falls short of competitors like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Ford Mustang Mach-E. At around 44 thousand dollars, it is fairly priced, but the bZ4X feels like a car Toyota built because it had to rather than because it wanted to.
